SongCue Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for SongCue
Last Updated: September 5, 2026
Introduction
SongCue ("we", "our", or "us") is an iOS app and iMessage extension that turns Apple Music into a guessing game between friends. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use SongCue.
Information We Collect
SongCue does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no servers and no analytics. We do not:
- Collect your name, email address, or phone number
- Require you to create an account
- Track your location
- Access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
- Use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs
- Use third-party advertising networks
- Sell or share data with anyone
Challenges and Profile Data
The challenges you create, the challenges friends send you, your scores, and your display name and colour are stored locally on your device in a shared container (an App Group) so that the SongCue app and its iMessage extension can both read them. This data never leaves your device except when you choose to share a challenge or a score with a friend. If you uninstall the app, this data is removed with it.
Apple Music
SongCue uses Apple's MusicKit to search the Apple Music catalog and play song snippets under your own Apple Music subscription. When you grant SongCue access to Apple Music, requests go directly from your device to Apple. We never see your Apple ID, your listening history, or your library. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sharing over iMessage
When you send a challenge or a score, the data travels inside the iMessage message itself. It is delivered by Apple's Messages service to the people you choose, and we do not have a copy of it. Messages are protected according to Apple's iMessage policies. Anyone who receives a challenge can see its name, colour, the song list, the cue positions, and the display name you chose in SongCue.
Third-Party Services
Other than Apple Music and iMessage, both operated by Apple on your device, SongCue does not integrate with any third-party services.
Children's Privacy
SongCue does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.
App Store Information
When you download SongCue from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect information according to its own privacy policy. We do not receive personally identifiable information from Apple beyond aggregated, anonymous download and crash statistics that Apple provides to all developers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
